Tech to Host Red Raider Football Coaching Clinic

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech will hold the Red Raider Football Coaching Clinic at the United Spirit Arena April 6-7, 2001. The clinic will kick off Fri., April 6, with a welcome from Tech head coach Mike Leach and conclude with the Texas Tech Red Raider scrimmage on Sat., April 7.
The clinic will offer one-on-one time with the Red Raider coaching staff, interactive audio-visual presentations and seminars from winning high school coaches. Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach, special teams coordinator Manny Matsakis and Red Raider head strength coach Kelvin Clark will be on site to offer advice and answer questions.
Midland Lee head coach John Parchman will speak on Building a Championship Program Fri., April 6, at 12:30 p.m. Before coaching at Midland Lee, Parchman was the head coach and athletic director for Llano High School from 1993-1994. Parchman went to Midland Lee in 1995 where he has posted a six-year record of 69-10-1. He has led the Rebels to five district championships and the 1998, 1999 and 2000 state championships. Parchman's overall record is an impressive 137-57-1.
Both local and national media have recognized Parchman. He received the Permian Basin Super Team Coach of the Year in 1998, 1999 and 2000. Parchman was also named Fox Sports Texas Coach of the Year in 1998 and 2000.
In addition to Parchman, Lubbock Monterey head coach James Morton and Bryan (Texas) High School coach Marty Criswell will also speak.
