LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech softball team lost the final contest of a two-game series to seventh-ranked Oklahoma, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon at Rocky Johnson Field, as the visiting Sooners got 11 hits en route to the victory.
The Sooners (33-7, 9-2 Big 12) scored in the third on a RBI single by Jennifer Stump for a 1-0 advantage. OU added to the lead in the fourth with three runs, as Christy Ring drove in a run with a single and Andrea Davis plated the other two with another single.
The final run of the contest came on a solo home run by Kelli Braitsch to lead off the sixth.
Tech (28-18) stranded a runner in the second after Carmen Grindell led off with a single to center. The Red Raiders also stranded a pair of runners in the fourth after a double by Shauna Briggs and a walk by Andrea Joachims. But Tech could not come up with the big hit off Oklahoma starter Jennifer Stewart (23-3), who struck out seven and allowed just four hits.
Red Raider starter Amanda Renfro (25-15) allowed five runs on 11 hits while striking out six.
Tech returns to action next weekend with a two-game series at Missouri. The Red Raiders finish home play on April 28-29 with a weekend series against Iowa State.
