Bonjour!
Greetings from Paris, France. We finally made it safely. We arrived in Paris on Wednesday and were very tired and worn out. I would have to say my first night sleeping in Paris was quite different than in the United States. When I first walked in my room I "yelled". I yelled because the rooms were so small, the beds were put together, and the beds were short and they were twin beds. So can you image a 6'1 female basketball player sleeping in a small bed and half of her body is hanging off. But other than the beds, I slept very good and peaceful.
When I woke up I was well rested for what the day was planned for. At about 9:00 a.m. I went to eat breakfast in the hotel. I would have to say the food is also different here. The eggs were runny (which Imelda our trainer ate), the milk was buttermilk, and they served their juice in little bitty glasses (which I drank four glasses of juice). After I ate breakfast, Casey, Jia, Dionne, and I went outside to take some crazy pictures. We sang songs, and took pictures with the whole team. After we all took pictures the bus came to pick us up at the hotel and took us to see the Eiffel Tower. We waited in line for about 40 minutes to an 1 hour. To pass time we took more pictures, sang songs again, and talked to the people that were selling stuff. When we got on the Eiffel Tower, it was a great experience. We all got a chance to see what it was like. The whole team went to the top level, and it was high going up. After we came back down from seeing the Eiffel tower, Casey, Jia, Dionne, and I went and stood in the park and waited for our bus to go on our next tour. Once we left the tour we went to the "Louvre". There we saw the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, and other paintings and sculptures. There were so many people there, but we still had a good time. After that I was tired and decided it was time to leave. So of course, me Casey, Jia, and Dionne caught a taxi. When we tried to catch a cab the first time, the cab just ignored Casey who was standing in the middle of the street, and drove right passed her. We thought he was going to run her over. It was funny. Finally we got a cab and we told him (or should I say we showed him on a piece of paper the name of the hotel we stayed in). The whole ride we kept asking him, "sir how much will it cost" and he kept speaking French. It was hilarious, we didn't understand him and he didn't understand us. After that I went into the lobby read my book I bought for the trip. I ended up finishing the book and went upstairs to take me a little nap. I woke up at about 6:30 p.m. and went to Tammi's (our media relations person) room and started typing out my diary. Last, we went on a boat tour on the River Seine. The tour started at 9:00 p.m. and lasted for about 1 hour. On the tour we saw many people out. People were taking pictures, dancing, sitting, and others were out spending quality time with loved ones. The tour was very lovely. It reminded me of a romantic spot you take someone special to. Anyway, after the tour we got back on the tour bus and came back to the hotel. While getting off the bus it started raining. We all ran off the bus and into the hotel. After that we had a team meeting to discuss the game plan for tomorrow. Well it is getting late and I am hungry so I am about to end my spectacular diary.
Until next time,
Tanisha Ellison
