LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team began its final week of training camp today and will conclude the week with the Red and Black Scrimmage on Thursday.
Tech returned to the courts this week where the focus turned to team action. The squad had spent most of the previous practices working on sill work. As the 2001 season approaches, Tech head Coach Jeff Nelson says its time to begin match preparations.
"We are really going to put a focus on team work this week," said Nelson. "As we approach the start of the season, we need to work more on running plays and get our transition game going. We are going to work hard this week and then give the player the weekend off so that they can be fresh for the start of classes next week. I am extremely proud of the way we have worked during camp and that gives me confidence heading into the year."
The Red Raiders will scrimmage for the final time on Thursday in a Red/Black match beginning at 7 p.m. in the United Spirit Arena practice gym. The scrimmage is free and open to the public.
