LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech football team returned to the practice field on Monday afternoon for a 2 ? hour workout after taking the morning off. The focus of the afternoon was making improvements from Sunday's scrimmage that was the first of training camp.
Tech dropped the full pads and went back to shells for Monday's practice where Coach Leach and company focused heavily on mechanics. The practice was spent mostly in offensive and defensive group units where the coaching staff focused on making minor improvements.
"The offensive line had a good day and we have had a good day every time out this preseason," said Tech offensive lineman Matt Heider. "The hard work and training that we put in over the summer has paid off. We are playing well together and coming together as a unit."
Special teams was again a big focus today as Coach Matsakis and troops worked heavily on punting placement and field goal conversions.
The Red Raiders continue workouts on Tuesday with two-a-day workouts at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
