Texas Tech Cross Country Teams Sweep New Mexico State Meet

LUBBOCK, Texas - Leading the way for the Red Raiders was sophomore Joe McCellon, who placed third with a time of 23:50.53. Finishing in fourth place behind McCellon was fellow sophmore Scott Moore running the 8K race in a time of 24:11.39.
Junior Shannon Spaulding led the women's cross country team to clinch the team title placing second with a time of 18:54.75 in the 5K race. Sophomores Katie Lyman and Tracie Akerhieln placed fourth and fifth with times of 19:05.09 and 19:16.39, respectively.
"I am pleased with the effort both teams gave this weekend," said head coach Dave Smith. "McCellon ran a great race on the men's team, as well as, Spaulding on the women's team. I am very proud of how these guys gave their all and ended up winning both the men's division and women's division for the first time since Texas Tech joined the Big 12."
