Texas Tech Cross Country Teams Place At Cowboy Jamboree

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's and women's cross country teams placed 11th and sixth, respectively, at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, O.K., today. The men's team finished with a 273 while the women finished with a 184.

Leading the way for the Red Raiders in the 5,000m was sophomore Katie Lyman who placed 20th with a time of 18:30. Behind Lyman was junior Shannon Spaulding who ran an 18:38 to place 24th. Sophomore Tracie Akerhielm finished in 27th place with a time of 18:42.

Sophomore Joe McCellon was the men's top finisher in 41st place with a time of 25.38 in the 8,000m race. Freshman Steve Maddox finished in 47th place after running the 8,000 in 25:44 while sophomore teammate Scott Moore finished in 56th place with a time of 26:09.
