LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raiders and head coach Bob Knight host traditional rival Texas Mon., Jan. 14, at 8 p.m. at the United Spirit Arena. The Big 12 game is the first since the spring semester began and is part of ESPN's "Big Monday" nationally-televised package.
The student entrance gates at the southeast portion of the arena will open an hour and a half (6:30 p.m. for tonight's Texas game) before games. Along with the student ticket, a student ID card must be shown for admittance, not only to enter the arena but to enter the student seating areas as well.
Since over 12,500 student sports packages were purchased, students are advised to arrive to the arena early. The Texas Tech student area consists of 4,603 seats for Red Raider games. Student lines for entrance through the southeast gates of the arena will be allowed starting at 8 a.m. on game day.
If students do not fill up the student sections by 30 minutes prior to tip-off, no-show seats will be sold for $6 at the west gate only. Tech students also can gain admission by purchasing general admission tickets (if any remain) for $6 each. Student season packages also are available online at techsis.admin.ttu.edu/student. At this site, students can purchase a season men's/women's package for only $30.
The Student Government Association Arena Advisory Board in conjunction with the Texas Tech Athletic Department established student-seating policies for men and women's games.
