Coming off of a well deserved high from beating Missouri, we set out on a long bus trip to Waco. However, that high was deflated by a hard-to-swallow loss to Baylor. Sometimes the match goes to the one who is fired up about playing, not just fired up about winning. Baylor didn't play a game at a time, but point for point, concentrating on winning each rally in order to win the game and then the entire match. The trip home proved to be long, but personally gave me time to ask myself what I could have done different. I came to the simple conclusion that not just myself, but everyone just needs to go for it.
Our match with Texas on Saturday, though not in our favor, was much improved from Wednesday. We played close every game and were able to pull ahead a couple of times, but it doesn't matter how far ahead you are if you don't finish. We failed to finish and therefore failed to win. I also think we got away from our strengths and in return weren't able to build in other areas of the game. Another factor would once again prove to be just going for it. I think when we lay it all on the line, capitalize on our strengths, and just go after our opponents, Tech volleyball will once again be a winning team.
As for this coming week, we will travel to College Station to play the #25 Aggies and then return home to take on Colorado this Saturday. I hope the crowd from the Texas game will be returning because that was awesome!!! For the rest of you... hope to see you there!
