For those of you that were at the Missouri game, you're awesome!!! Secondly, for those of you who weren't, you missed a great game and I expect to see you next time.
Missouri was 2nd in conference and 21 in the AVCA polls coming into the Saturday game. While some teams may have shunned away from such numbers, we instead used it as incentive to win. In game one, we played a good game but couldn't come up with it, losing 25-30. From game two until the end four, we never looked back. Everyone made great plays, but mostly importantly, they made the plays when we needed them. This game was just what we needed to get the ball rolling. We look to continue in the same fashion by playing hard, playing aggressive, and playing to win.
The outcome of Wednesday's game with Kansas State wasn't what we wanted. It was an enduring five game match and everyone played hard, but we just made some errors that cost us in the end. However, we did enjoy a great meal of roasted chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and other goodies at Abby's house. We enjoyed the food, and she enjoyed being home. (Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Schukman for your generosity and great cooking!)
As for me, I love it here at Tech. Everyone is extremely friendly and I made it through the first round of tests without failing any of them. Volleyball has proven very demanding, in the aspects of practicing hard, playing to win, and missing a lot of class due to traveling. I was very excited because I got my first start of the season against Kansas State and my second on Saturday against Missouri. I know I have several things to work on and I need to get over being the nervous freshman, but I am proud of this opportunity and plan to work harder than ever.
We travel to Waco this Wednesday to take on Baylor, but then it is home again this Saturday with us taking on Texas at 7 p.m. at the USA. It will be a great game, and I expect everyone to be there!!!
