Tech Hit the Road in Search of Conference Win

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team will look feed off the momentum of downing the 21st-ranked Missouri Tigers over the weekend as it heads to Waco, Texas, for a mid-week Big 12 match up.
Tech (7-7, 2-3 Big 12) is coming off its biggest win of the season and will look to continue get back to the .500 mark with a win on the road. The match will be the fourth road-match within conference play this season. Thus far, the Red Raiders are 1-2 on the road with a win over Iowa State, 3-0, and losses at Kansas, 3-0, and Kansas State, 3-2.
Baylor (7-8, 1-4 Big 12) is coming off its first conference win as it downed the Cyclones, 3-1, to snap a four-match conference losing streak. The Bears have been riddled by injuries in 2002 and start three freshmen.
The Red Raiders are led on offense by sophomore Kelly Johnson (Fort Worth, Texas) who has 214 kills on the season including 22 in Tech's last outing. Helping lead the charge is senior Melissa McGehee (Kerrville, Texas). McGehee was named the Big 12's Player of the Week, the award was her second of the season.
Wednesday's match will be followed by a match the Texas Longhorns Saturday night at the United Spirit Arena. The match will follow the Lady Raiders' first practice of the season and fans are invited to stay for the 7 p.m. first serve.
