Getting Started
Texas Tech won the opening coin toss for the sixth time this season and elected to receive the opening kickoff and defend the north endzone. At game time, the temperature was 40 degrees with a southeast wind at 8 mph.

Kliff Notes
- Senior quarterback Kliff Kingsbury surpassed Indiana's Antwan Randle-El for the NCAA record for most career plays. Kingsbury now totals 1,981 plays in his career surpassing Randle-El's mark of 1,917.
- Kingsbury also became the NCAA leader for most career pass attempts as he now totals 1,730. The previous record was 1,679 by Chris Redman of Louisville (1996-99).
- With 10,969 yards passing in his career, Kingsbury jumped from 14th to eighth place on the all-time NCAA passing list moving ahead of Alex Van Pelt of Pittsburgh who put up 10,913 yards between 1989 and 1992.
Seven Straight
Texas Tech scored a season-high seven-straight touchdowns on seven consecutive drives that began in the first quarter and lasted until late in the third quarter. The scoring drive came to an end when B.J. Symons threw an interception that immediately followed a Baylor fumble.
Symons Get PT
Junior quarterback B.J. Symons replaced Kliff Kingsbury in the third quarter and threw a touchdown pass in his first drive to Dupree Scovell. The touchdown pass was the third of his career and two of those TD passes have come to a Scovell brother (King Scovell in 2001 and Dupree Scovell today).
Munlin Has Career Day
- Junior tailback Foy Munlin picked up his first career rushing touchdown (5-yard run) with 10:26 remaining in the second quarter. The touchdown is just the second of Munlin's career as he accounted for a receiving touchdown in 2001.
- Munlin tallied his first multiple touchdown game of his career when he got his second touchdown of the game on a 1-yard rush with 33 seconds left in first half.
- Munlin got his third touchdown of the game on a 3-yard rush with 12:47 remaining in the game.
Make It Seven Over Baylor
Texas Tech has now won seven consecutive games over Baylor dating back to the 1996 season. Texas Tech is moving closer to Baylor's lead in the all-time series as Tech trails just four games (32-28-1). The Red Raiders own the series at home 20-14-1.
- Tech has scored 125 points against Baylor in the last two games and given up just 30 points.
Texas Tech Notables
- Freshman Vincent Meeks made his first career appearance on the defensive side of the ball when he subsituted for Raymond Pierce in the first quarter.
- Redshirt freshman Taurean Henderson picked up his third career receiving touchdown on Tech's first scoring drive of the game (4:43 1st Quarter). Henderson picked up his sixth rushing touchdown of the season on a 7-yard scoring run with 3:57 remaining in the second quarter. This is Henderson's third multiple touchdown game of the year.
- Senior defensive end Aaron Hunt picked up his second sack of the season in the third quarter. The sack was Hunt's first since setting the Texas Tech career sack record against Ohio State in the first game of the season.
- Redshirt freshman linebacker John Saldi recorded his first career sack late in the second quarter when he took down Baylor quarterback Aaron Karas.
- Junior receiver Mickey Peters caught his first touchdown pass since the New Mexico game to give him seven career touchdowns (five in 2002).
- Sophomore Nehemiah Glover picked up his seventh touchdown reception of the season and the eight of his career on Tech's first drive of the second half. Glover's seven touchdowns this season ties him for fourth on the Texas Tech single-season list.
- Texas Tech's Gathan McGinnis and Baylor's Antoine Murphy and Matt Johnson were ejected from the game for fighting in the third quarter.
- Wes Welker attempted an extra-point after Foy Munlin's touchdown with 12:47 remaining in the game but missed on the attempt.
- Sophomore Sonny Cumbie made his second career appearance at quarterback in the fourth quarter (his first appearance came against New Mexico).
- Redshirt freshman Cody Hodges replaced Sonny Cumbie with 1:36 remaining in the fourth quarter, making his first career quarterback appearance.
