Hey everyone, I am sorry for the absence of my journal entry last weekend. The Big 12 gave us the weekend off, and boy what a weekend it was.
Last week we really let Oklahoma have it; we beat them in an easy three games. We played the type of volleyball that we are accustomed to; the type of volleyball that we love. this week we hosted Kansas State on Wednesday. The game was a long grueling match, which is no surprise, we always paricipate in an exciting battle with Kansas State. We ended up losing to them in the fifth 15 to 13. It was definitely hard to take, but all you can do is learn from your experiences, fix your mistakes, and keep working hard.
The winning part will just come naturally. Yesterday we played in Nebraska, and we fought hard, but lost in three.
This past weekend, as I said before, we received a little time off. I have to tell everyone my story because believe me it is a great one. I myself decided to go home and visit my boyfriend of 5 years. He is doing his student coaching at John Jay high school in San Antonio. The John Jay football team happened to be playing Del Rio that weekend at the Alamo Dome in an exciting district match. I went to the game, and sat there with my family and his family. We were all watching the players warm up, and as both teams were going into the lockeroom before the game, I happened to look down at a sign the cheerleaders made that read, "MELISSA I LOVE YOU, WILL YOU MARRY ME, LOVE TATE!" I immediately went into a state of shock, I couldn't believe my eyes. We had always talked about marriage, but I had never expected to be asked in this way. I then followed his sister to a corridor outside their locker room where Tate was waiting for me. He proposed right there and put the most gorgeous ring on my finger. I loved everything about that day. I realized then how much God has blessed me because he has put truly special people in my life. He has blessed me with a fiance that I love with all my heart, along with family, friends, teammates, and coaches, all of which hold a special place in my heart. The people I just mentioned got me where I am today, and for this last month, I want to play the game I love for them. I know this team is going to work hard and start winning games, I can just feel it. You can find out this Wednesday when we put ourselves to the test against Kansas. Hope to see you there!!!!!!!!!
