Tech to Host Jayhawks in Conference Action

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team will look to snap a two-match losing streak and even the season series tonight as they play host to the Kansas Jayhawks at 7 p.m. in the United Spirit Arena.
Tech (8-13, 3-9) has been competitive in losing six of its last seven and will look to right the ship tonight against Kansas. In the Red Raiders last home match, Kelly Johnson set the school record for kills in a match, 35.
Senior Melissa McGehee is second on the team in kills with 284 while Angela Mooney has caught fire of late and is third on the team in kills, 243, and second on the team in hitting percentage, .271. Stacey Poole has given Jeff Nelson an extra spark in the middle as she leads the team with a .285 hitting percentage.
Kansas (17-5, 8-5) rides into Lubbock on a three-match win streak and took the first meeting between these two schools, 3-0, in Lawrence, Kan., on Sept. 28. The Jayhawks will be looking for their ninth Big 12 win which would set the school record for most conference wins.
Tech will hit the road after tonight's match as they had a 5 p.m. first-serve with the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, Okla., on Saturday before returning to the U.S.A. next Wednesday to host Baylor.
