ROUND ROCK, Texas - Texas Tech head baseball trainer David Steadman qualified for the 2003 Boston Marathon on Sunday morning as he ran a 3:10:04 in the Motorola Marathon in Austin, Texas.
Steadman took a break from his duties as head baseball trainer on Sunday morning to compete in the Motorola Marathon in Austin as the Red Raiders were in Round Rock for the Lone Star Classic. His previous personal best was a 3:19 in the Dallas Whiterock Marathon and he needed to capture a time between 3:10 and 3:10:59 in order to qualify for Boston.
After his 26-mile jaunt through the capital city, Steadman rejoined the Red Raiders over at Dell Diamond just in time to see Tech's noon game with Southwest Texas.
