Women's Tennis Falls to No. 26 Florida International

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team lost a tough match today to No. 26 Florida International University. The Red Raiders fought hard but lost to the Golden Panthers, 4-3.
Tech won two out of three of its doubles matches against FIU to win the doubles point. The No. 1 doubles tandem of Irina Tereschenko (Moscow, Russia) and Beverly Dawson (Odessa, Texas) defeated FIU's Anneliese Rose and Christina Campana, 8-4. The other doubles win came from the No. 3 tandem of Alenka Ovin (Maribor, Slovenia) and Kendall Brooks (Corpus Christi, Texas). They defeated FIU's Mei Ly and Agnes Buronyi, 8-0
In singles play, Tech picked up two wins from Tereschenko and Brooks. Tereschenko defeated FIU's Rose, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. Brooks added the second win by defeating FIU's Nicky Rosenberg in an eight game pro set. The match was tied eight-all and Brooks won the tie-breaker, 9-7 to go up, 9-8 over Rosenberg.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with Tech taking on the University of New Mexico at 10 a.m. at Nautilus.
