FULLERTON, Calif. - For the third time this season the Texas Tech softball team took on the No. 2 team in the nation, today it was the Arizona Wildcats who blanked the Red Raiders, 8-0, in the second game of the Kia Klassic in Fullerton, Claif.
Arizona (26-2) scored seven of its eight runs with two outs and got a solid pitching performance by its pitcher, Jenny Gladding, struck-out ten allowing just one hit.
Tech's (10-17) lone hit came with one out in the first as Rebecca Eimen laced a double to right center. It would be the only time that Tech would have a runner get as far as second base.
The Red Raiders continued to struggle with two outs as seven of its eight runs came with two down.
The Wildcats got a pair of homers from leadoff hitter Lovieanne Jung and one by Jackie Coburn. Jung's first was a solo shot to lead off the game.
Tech will wrap up pool play tomorrow morning with Notre Dame at 11 a.m.
