
Men's Golf Tied for Seventh After Round One

STANFORD, Calif. - The Texas Tech men's golf team completed the first round of competition late yesterday in Stanford, Calif., shooting a two-round total of 584 (293, 291) to sit in tie for seventh with Washington State at the 2002 US Intercollegiate hosted by Stanford University.
Senior David Bolen shot a one-under-par 141 (70, 71) to finish in a tie for fourth while teammate Mark Hull shot identical rounds of 72 to round out the top 20 in a seven-way tie for 12th with a two-over-par 144.
Kyle Willmann shot a six-over-par 148 (76, 72) to tie in 36th place with seven other players. Sophomores Brad Jacobson and Brian Smith struggled in the first round of play as each finished in 68th and 69th place, respectively.
Southern California (565) is the round-one team leaderboard pacing seven strokes ahead of tourney host Stanford (572). UCLA and Oregon trails only six strokes behind the Cardinal in third and Oregon State rounded out the top five teams.
Tech wraps up the final round of play today on the par 71 Stanford Golf Course. Results will be available at the conclusion of the tournament.
