LUBBOCK, Texas - The Oklahoma State Cowgirls scored a pair of runs in the first inning off Tech starter Amie Stines and never looked back as the Red Raiders fell, 12-1, in Big 12 play Saturday at "The Rock," in Lubbock, Texas.
Up 6-1 in the top of the sixth, OSU (24-11, 4-4 Big 12) would score six unearned runs on four hits to put the finishing touches on a 12-1 victory. The Cowgirls capitalized on three Red Raider errors in the final inning of play.
Tech (11-28, 0-7 Big 12) scored its lone run in the third as Esmerelda Perez led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. With one out, shortstop Kristi Robles flew out to right allowing Perez to score on the sacrifice fly.
Jade Lindly, Lauren Bay and Nicci Quiroz had two RBIs each for the Cowgirls while Jenny Kipp, Stephanie Hodges and Ryan Realmuto each scored twice.
Perez was one-for-one with a pair of walks and a run scored to lead Tech offensively.
In the OSU third, Lindly hit a Stines pitch over the left field wall for an apparent three-run homer but passed Realmuto between first and second and was called out.
Bay went the distance for Oklahoma State allowing just one run on four hits while striking out eight, improving her record to 15-8. Stines went 4.1 innings allowing six runs on nine hits as she falls to 2-12.
These two teams are scheduled to play the series finally Sunday at noon.
