Rowe Named To 2002 Verizon District VI Academic Team

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior reliever Steve Rowe has been named to the 2002 Verizon District VI Academic Baseball Team and is just one of two players from the Big 12 to receive the honor.
Rowe is currently one of the top closers in the Big 12 Conference as he tallies a 6-2 record with seven saves and has an impressive 1.10 ERA. Rowe has been a standout in the classroom as well as he has maintained a 3.71 cumulative GPA in Finance and will graduate in December.
Rowe joins Ross Bennett of Baylor as the only two players from the Big 12 selected to the team and both become eligible for Academic All-America honors.
He is the first Texas Tech baseball player to be named to the Verizon Academic All-District team since Brandon Buckley took home the honor in 1998. The Tech baseball program has placed numerous players on the All-District team and has had nine players earn Academic All-America honors
