LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team will play its next two matches on the road as its travels to Lawrence and Manhattan, Kan., for a pair of Big 12 Conference road match-ups.
Saturday night the Red Raiders (6-5, 1-1 Big 12) will take on the Kansas Jayhawks (10-1, 2-1 Big 12) at Horejsi Family Athletics Center. Kansas stands in a three-way tie for third in the conference after upsetting the Colorado Buffalos in Boulder, Colo., Wednesday night.
Texas Tech is sixth in the conference with a 1-1 record after falling to the fifth ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers Wednesday night at the United Spirit Arena. The Red Raiders started conference action 1-0 after sweeping the Iowa State Cyclones in Ames, Iowa, last weekend.
The Red Raiders are 10-2 all-time against the Jayhawks including winning the last four meetings. Tech has been pushed to the limit in recent times, needing five games to get past Kansas on the road, over the last two years.
Kansas State also has a 2-1 Big 12 record, but is struggling this season with a 6-5 record after starting the season ranked in the AVCA Top 25. The Wildcats play host to the Texas Longhorns Saturday in conference action.
Tech will return home next Saturday, Oct. 5, when it hosts the Missouri Tigers at the United Spirit Arena at 7 p.m.
