
Cross Country Heads To Chili Pepper Invite

LUBBOCK, Texas - The cross country team heads to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the Chili Pepper Invite tomorrow, for its last meet of the season before the Big 12 Championship. The women received nine votes in the NCAA poll, after making three top 20 appearances including two first place titles.
Tech will compete against No. 19 Arkansas and Vanderbilt who also received votes. Kansas State and Oklahoma round out the other schools from the Big 12 competing on the Agri Park Cross Country Course.
Kenya's Irene Kimaiyo leads the women's team as she has finished in the top five in three meets this season. At the Cowboy Jamboree she ran a 21:31, her best time of the year, to finish in eighth place. Junior Brionne Yosten has finished first for Tech three times including a third place appearance at the UTA Invitational with a time of 10:52.96, her highest finish of the year.
Kenya's Benson Cheserek is leading the men's team with four consecutive meets as Tech's top finisher. He captured the tournament title at the UTA Invitational with a time of 20:26, also garnering the Big 12 Runner of the Week for his appearance.
