GETTING STARTED
- Texas Tech lost the opening coin toss for the fifth time this season. Oklahoma State elected to defer until the second half and defend the east end zone.
- Today's game marked the second time this season that the Red Raiders have been a homecoming opponent. The Red Raiders fell at NC State back on Sept. 21 in what was the homecoming game for the Wolfpack. Tech will be the homecoming opponent four times this season (NC State, Oklahoma State, Missouri and Baylor).
- Texas Tech played on the ABC Network for the 37th time in school history and the 10th time since the Big 12 began back in 1996.
- Junior defensive lineman Patrice Majondo-Mwamba made his first career start today at defensive tackle. NOTING THE OFFENSE
- Wes Welker's touchdown with 3:51 left in the game was his 18th career touchdown reception and the sixth of the season.
- Nehemiah Glover was responsible for two touchdowns on the day and finished with six receptions and 68 receiving yards.
- Carlos Francis picked up his fifth touchdown of the season in the fourth quarter (17th career).
- Taurean Henderson's 46-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was the longest rushing play of the season for any Texas Tech player and the longest of his career.
- Taurean Henderson finished the game with 123 rushing yards marking the second straight game that he has finished over the century mark. The back-to-back 100-yard rushing games is the first by an individual in the Mike Leach era.
RED RAIDER NOTEBOOK
- Texas Tech failed to score on its opening drive for the first time in two games. Keith Toogood attempted a 37-yard field goal but missed to the left.
- Oklahoma State's first possession touchdown marked the first Texas Tech deficit since the fourth quarter of the Mississippi game on Sept. 27.
- Nehemiah Glover moved into eighth place on the Texas Tech career receiving yardage list surpassing Sammy Williams (74-77). Glover needed 43 yards receiving coming into the game and finished with 68. Glover also moved into second place on the all-time career touchdown receptions list as he now totals 18 in his career.
- Wes Welker's touchdown in the fourth quarter puts him in a second place tie with Glover with 18 career touchdown receptions.
- Sophomore free safety Vincent Meeks picked up his first career sack in the second quarter on a safety blitz.
- John Saldi picked up his second career interception and the first of the season late in the third quarter. His first interception came in Tech's 55-15 win over Clemson in the Tangerine Bowl last December.
- Quarterback BJ Symons moved into seventh place on the all-time Texas Tech career attempts list as he needed 14 coming into the game and finished with 67.
- The on-side kick in the fourth quarter was the second attempted by Texas Tech this season and both have been recovered by Joey Hawkins (Iast vs. NC State).
