STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Jon Holland intercepted B.J. Symons' pass with 1:05 left as No. 23 Oklahoma State ended a furious comeback attempt to hold off Texas Tech 51-49 on Saturday.
Tatum Bell ran for a career high 238 yards, with TD runs of 95 yards, 48 yards and 5 yards, and the Cowboys (6-1, 2-1 Big 12) scored on their first eight possessions to take a 48-21 lead into the fourth quarter.
Symons was 42-of-67 for 552 yards, his sixth straight game with more than 400 yards. Symons threw five touchdown passes and ran for another score, but also had two interceptions and missed several open receivers.
Texas Tech, the nation's highest scoring team, got back in it with four fourth-quarter touchdowns. The Red Raiders (5-2, 2-1) drove to the Oklahoma State 40 before Holland's interception.
Luke Phillips' 20-yard field goal with 5:43 remaining ended a 21-0 Texas Tech run as the Cowboys beat the Red Raiders for the first time in four tries.
Oklahoma State's Josh Fields threw for 320 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-29 passing. Seymore Shaw added 74 yards rushing on six carries, including a 53-yard touchdown run.
The teams combined for 1,334 total yards in the game, which lasted more than four hours with 76 passes and 20 penalties to stop the clock. Oklahoma State was third in the nation in scoring coming in, averaging 40.6 points.
Bell, the Big 12's second-leading rusher, easily surpassed his season average of 107.8 yards. His 95-yard run through a huge hole up the middle was the third longest rush in Cowboys history.
Oklahoma State led 34-14 at halftime, scoring on all six possessions.
Tommy Devereaux scored from 14 yards on an end-around, and Fields hit Charlie Johnson from 4 yards out to put the Cowboys up 21-7. Jamar Ransom's midfield interception of Symons' pass set up Phillips 31-yard field goal with 3 seconds left in the half.
Symons threw first-half touchdown passes to Nehemiah Glover from 15 yards and Wes Welker from 14 yards. But the Red Raiders fell off the scoring pace when Keith Toogood missed a 33-yard field-goal try on the first possession.
Welker led Texas Tech receivers with 129 yards and two scores on 10 catches. Taurean Henderson ran for 123 yards on nine carries and a TD. He also caught seven passes for 60 yards.
Rashaun Woods had 147 yards on six catches for Oklahoma State, extending his steak of consecutive games with at least two receptions to 38.
