
Red Raider Football Signs Three

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head football coach Mike Leach announced today the signing of three players to the 2004 signing class. The trio, all from Reedley (Calif.) Junior College, will enroll at Tech in January and participate in spring drills.
Heading the list is dual-threat quarterback Robert Johnson. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Georgia native threw for 2,122 yards and rushing for 478 while leading Reedley to a 12-0 record and a national championship in 2002. He followed with 2,227 passing yards this season and completed 182-of-281 pass attempts. The five-star recruit also threw 15 touchdowns in leading Reedley to a 9-2 record. Johnson, who runs a 4.45 40, finished the season ranked ninth among non-high school players and first among non-high school quarterbacks by Rivals100.com.
Charles Glover registered 48 tackles, four sacks, nine quarterback hurries and a forced fumble in five Valley Conference games this season. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound defensive tackle recorded a 4.9 40 time during the season.
Four-star linebacker Sylvester Brinkley rounds out the early signing class. Brinkley, 6-foot-4, 235 pounds, logged 32 tackles, five sacks, five quarterback hurries and a forced fumble in Valley Conference play this season. He also runs a 4.6 40.
