Lady Raiders Third at Lady Aztec Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas - Only three strokes separate third-place Texas Tech from tournament leader Kansas, while three Lady Raider golfers rank among the top 10 following the first round of play at the Lady Aztec Spring Invitational in Lake San Marcos, Calif.
Freshman Hazel Tan (Sarasota, Fla./Bradenton Academy) shot a 3-over 75 Monday and is currently tied in fourth place with two other golfers. Tan is four shots back of tournament leader Jennifer Bawanan of Kansas. Sophomores Kim Kolb (Sioux Falls, S.D./O'Gorman) and Sheila Mendez (El Paso, Texas/Franklin) are tied in 10th place with seven others after shooting a pair of 77s.
Sophomore Megan Hull (Mansfield, Texas/Mansfield) is tied in 19th place with a 78, while junior Jackie Ey (San Antonio, Texas/Churchill) rounds out the scoring for Tech with an 83 in a 40th-place tie.
Kansas shot a 304 on the day to set the standard, followed by host San Diego State (305) and Tech (307). CSU-Northridge (310) and Colorado State (311) round out the top five. Sacramento State (315), Cal Poly SLO (319), UC-Riverside (321) and Portland (325) are sixth through ninth, respectively, while Wyoming (333), Southwest Missouri State (333) and Weber State (333) are tied for 10th.
CSU-San Marcos (334), CSU-Monterey Bay (346) and Wichita State (351) complete the field of 15.
The final 18 holes of the 36-hole event will begin with an 8 a.m. (PT) shotgun start Tuesday at Lake San Marcos Country Club.
