Lady Raider Softball Heads to Tempe, Ariz.

Lubbock, Texas - This weekend's tournament will test the Lady Raider softball squad as they head to Tempe, Ariz., for the Fiesta Bowl Classic, making their third appearance at the tournament.
This weekend's schedule includes some of the toughest competition Tech will face this season. The tournament opens with a match up Fri. against Utah at 11:00 a.m., of which Tech leads the series 3-0. Tech will face Oregon State at 5:30 p.m., the third contest between the teams. The Lady Raiders are 0-2 against the No.15 Oregon State.
Play will continue on Sat. at 11:00 a.m. against Massachusetts of whom the Lady Raiders have only played once, a 7-1 loss to the then No. 24 Minutewomen. Tech will turn around and face UNLV at 1:30 p.m. for their second match up.
Last on the schedule is Stanford, with the Cardinals holding the series record 4-0. Neither team has scored more than three runs in any game.
The Lady Raiders head into this weekend's tournament prepared after finding their routine at the SWT/Century Tel Bobcat Classic in San Marcos, Texas, where the team finished 2-3. The Tech defense made quite an impressive performance at the classic turning a tournament-high four double plays.
On the offensive side, outfielder Amanda Douglas enters this weekend with a .600 slugging percentage after hitting a single, double, triple and tallying four RBI on the weekend. Senior Kristi Robles earned six hits and slammed a home run for the Lady Raiders earning a .333 batting average.
