LUBBOCK, Texas - The 54th-ranked Texas Tech men's tennis team prepares for its highest ranked opponent this season as it takes on No. 4 Baylor on Saturday, March 22 at 1 p.m. The match will be at the McLeod Tennis Center unless there is rain and then the match will be held indoors at the Lubbock Country Club.
The Red Raiders hold a 13-1 overall season record. They also hold the record for the tennis program at Tech for the most consecutive wins at this point in the season at 13. The Red Raiders also have a record of 3-0 for Big 12 play, as they have not had any conference matches since March 1 against Oklahoma.
"Obviously, Baylor is one of the top teams in the country," said head coach Tim Siegel. "They are 15-1 and four or five of their players are ranked in the top 100. But our team is confident as any team I have had. We are looking forward to the challenge."
The Baylor Bears have many duos and singles that are nationally ranked. As a team, the Bears are ranked No. 4 and have an overall record of 15-1 and 4-0 in Big 12 play.
This will be the last home match for the Red Raiders until April 12 when they take on Oklahoma State. Tech will hit the road for four-straight matches: March 28 vs. UC Santa Barbara, March 29 at San Diego, April 4 at Texas A&M and April 5 at Texas.
