
Former Red Raiders Having Solid Years In Professional Baseball

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball program has several alumni playing professional baseball this summer and the following is a brief breakdown of a few selected players.
Keith Ginter is currently the starting third baseman for the Milwaukee Brewers. Ginter has played in 71 games this season for the Brewers and is batting .266 with 20 RBI, six home runs, three doubles and has walked 11 times. This season marks his fifth at the MLB level as he played three years with the Houston Astros before being traded to Milwaukee last season.
Travis Driskill is a reliever on the Baltimore Orioles pitching staff for the second straight year. Driskill, who was called up for the first time last season, is 2-3 on the year with a save and a 5.85 ERA through 40 innings of work. He has logged a total of 29 strikeouts and allowed just six walks. He has a career MLB record of 10-11 with a 5.16 ERA through 172 2/3 innings.
Josh Bard began the 2003 season as the everyday starting catcher for the Cleveland Indians but was sent down to AAA Buffalo at the end of June. While with the Indians Bard was the starting catcher and played in 60 games and was hitting .228 with 16 RBI and three home runs. Since his arrival in Buffalo, Bard has found his bat again as he is hitting an impressive .387 with 13 RBI, six doubles and two home runs.
Trey Lunsford is now in his fourth year with the San Francisco Giants and is currently on the Giants 40-man roster. Lunsford is currently with the AAA Fresno Grizzlies where he is hitting .276 in 65 games with 18 RBI, 10 doubles and two home runs. Lunsford has made one appearance with the Giants in 2003 as he pinch-hit in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 17.
Stubby Clapp found a new home this year with the Atlanta Braves organization and has been playing this season with AAA Richmond. Clapp, who spent much of his career within the St. Louis Cardinals organization, has a season batting average of .216 through 81 games. He has put up 22 RBI, 10 doubles, eight triples, three home runs and 27 walks so far this year.
Brandon Roberson moved up to high A this season as the Houston Astros promoted him to the Salem Avalanche. While in Salem, Roberson has tallied a 5-5 record with a 3.78 ERA through 22 games. The right-hander has fanned 58 batters in 95 1/3 innings of work.
Marco Cunningham is currently in the Kansas City Royals organization with the AA Wichita Wranglers of the Texas League. Cunningham is batting .258 this year in 76 games and has put up eight doubles, two triples, three home runs and has walked 22 times.
Jon Slack is in his second year with the New York Mets and is playing with the Brooklyn Cylcones in what is called "short season." Slack is batting .292 for the Cyclones and has played in 19 games and has six RBI.
Scooter Jordan, who was drafted this year in the 33rd round by Boston, is playing short season baseball this summer for the Lowell Spinners in Lowell, Mass. Jordan has a batting average of .265 through 31 games along with 15 RBI and 23 walks.
Steve Rowe is currently playing in the Texas Rangers organization with the A Stockton Ports. Rowe is a perfect 3-0 this year with a 1.77 ERA through 35 games and 45 2/3 innings. He also has 46 strikeouts to his credit and allowed just nine earned runs.
Blake McGinley is with the New York Mets organization and is playing for Class A St. Lucie. McGinley has been dominant this year as he sports a 6-1 record with four saves and a 1.29 ERA through 63 innings of work. McGinley has 66 strikeouts and has allowed just nine earned runs.
