PHILADELPHIA -- Fresh off earning Second Team All-Big 12 honors and hitting .374 with eight home runs and 46 RBIs, OF/DH Caden Ferraro was selected midway through the Third Round (Pick No. 86) of the 2026 MLB Draft, Saturday afternoon.
A former 2024 JUCO World Series Champion, Ferraro transferred to Texas Tech following a successful two-year career at Blinn College.
One of five Red Raider regulars with an OPS of over 1.000, Ferraro slashed .374/.481/.604, finishing second on the 2026 Red Raider team in average (.374), slugging percentage (.604) and on-base percentage (.481). Ferraro was also third on the squad in doubles (19) and struck out just 36 times in 52 games played.
A native of Pearland, Ferraro had 70 hits and scored 44 runs during the 2026 season.
Ferraro is the 73rd all-time draft pick in the Tim Tadlock Era and the 188th player in school history to be drafted.
He joins his fellow outfielder Logan Hughes as the two Red Raiders drafted through the first day and four rounds of the 2026 MLB Draft. Hughes was taken midway through the first round Saturday, landing with the Houston Astros as the No. 17 overall selection.
Ferraro and Hughes are the first set of Red Raiders to be taken in the top three rounds of the MLB Draft since 2020 when Clayton Beeter (No. 66) and Bryce Bonnin (No. 84) were drafted inside the top three rounds.
The 2026 MLB Draft continues on Sunday morning (Rounds 5-20) beginning at 10:30 a.m.
