Texas Tech Volleyball Continues Win Streak

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball squad overcame a one-game deficit to drop the College of Charleston today at the Big Orange Bash in Clemson, S.C. Tech is currently on a five-match winning streak after beating Charleston in four games (29-31, 31-20, 30-27, 30-15).
Tech started off with a loss but came back to win, giving up the lead only six times in the remaining four games. Kelly Johnson's 29 kills and 14 digs, both season high numbers, paced Texas Tech to a win. Breanna Pursley added 10 kills, a career high for Pursley.
Laura Grote handed out a match-high 55 assists and tallied 13 digs. Jessy Herrera recorded a team high 24 digs, also tying her career best of 24, which she got against Baylor in 2001. Angela Mooney and Katie Halley posted four blocks each, with the team posting 20.
Winthrop and Texas Tech (5-0) will lead off the second day of the tournament with a match at 9 a.m. and Tech will conclude play in the final match of the tournament squaring off with Clemson at 2 p.m.
