Texas Tech Football Attendance Reflects Significant Increase

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's attendance during the 2003 football season jumped 15 percent from the previous season after a school-record average of 49,608 fans entered Jones SBC Stadium during the Red Raiders' six-game home schedule.
The per game average was 3,340 better than the previous best of 46,268 during the 2001 season. Tech also eclipsed the 50,000-mark in attendance in three of six games for the first time in school history.
The percentage increase represents the largest in the Big 12 Conference and is four points ahead of Oklahoma, which saw an 11 percent increase from 2002. Kansas' attendance was up seven percent, while Baylor and Missouri saw six-percent increases. Oklahoma State and Colorado moved up two percent each and Texas increased a third of a percent.
Nebraska saw a decrease by one percent from 2002, while Kansas State and Iowa State saw decreases in attendance by two percent each. Texas A&M dropped five percent.
