
Women Finish Sixth, Men 10th at Big 12 Championships

TOPEKA, Kan. - Haron Lagat and Bridgett Tidwell finished 12th and 17th, respectively, to lead the Texas Tech men and women's teams at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships at Stateland Course in Topeka, Kan., Saturday. The men's team finished 10th, while the women turned in a sixth-place finish.
The women's team competed without the services of two of the league's top runners, Irene Kimaiyo and Abby Schubert, who both missed due to injury. Brionne Yosten finished second for Tech in 27th place, while Stephanie Calhoun finished 32nd. Katie Leonard followed in 44th place, followed by Anna Hagood in 62nd and Kelly Bilkre in 68th.
Benson Cheserek finished second for the Red Raiders in 39th place, while Rob Kalescky and Nick Eyhorn followed in 68th and 81st place. Adam Lawless and Pedro Vargas finished in 89th and 94th place.
Colorado won both the men and women's title. Missouri finished second among the women's teams followed by Oklahoma State, Baylor, Texas A&M, Tech, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa State and Texas.
Texas finished second in the men's race as Oklahoma State, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa State, Baylor, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Tech, Texas A&M and Nebraska followed.
