No. 44 Women's Golf Heads to NCAA Central Regional

Lubbock, Texas - The No.44-women's golf team will head east next week to compete in the team's first tournament of the spring season at the River Wilderness Country Club in Parrish, Florida. Tech is coming off a stellar fall season where it finished in the top 10 in three out of the four tournaments it competed in, two of those in the top 5 Tech had its best finish come at the College of Charleston Invitational, where the team finished second shooting a 908.
On the season senior Jackie Ey and junior Sheila Mendez lead the team with a 75.22 and 75.9 stroke averages, respectively. The Tech veterans also rank 11th and 20th in stroke averages among Big 12 competitors.
Tech will be looking to improve on last year's performance where the team finished in a sixth-place tie, shooting a 934. This year the team will face fierce competition in some of the nations top teams including No. 16 Michigan State and No.24 Arkansas.
Tech will begin play with a shotgun start every morning at 8 a.m. at the River Wilderness Country Club in Parrish, Florida. The course is a par 72 (6009 yards) and will consist of 54-holes, 36 to be played on Monday and the remaining 18 to be played on Tuesday. The 54-hole event will tee off on Monday, February 23 and will conclude play on Tuesday February 24.
