Red Raiders Host Clemson In Final Non-Conference Tuneup
The Texas Tech Red Raiders will have one final non-conference tune-up before the start of Big 12 play and it will be a big one as the Red Raiders will host the Clemson Tigers in a three-game series at Dan Law Field. First pitch on Friday night is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. while Saturday's game will get underway at 2 p.m. The series will conclude at noon on Sunday.
Texas Tech (13-6) enters the weekend on a two-game losing streak after dropping a game to No. 8 Notre Dame on Saturday in Round Rock and a 4-1 decision to New Mexico in Albuquerque on Tuesday night. Texas Tech will face a Clemson team that is 7-7 on the season and will be making its first trip to the State of Texas since 1999 when they took on Texas A&M in the NCAA Super Regionals in College Station.
The Red Raiders will be looking for some old fashion home cooking this weekend as the squad looks to jump start it's offense. Tech, who has scored just three runs in the last 26 innings, will hope its Dan Law Field magic returns as the Red Raiders are batting .373 with 175 runs scored in 13 home games this season.
There will be several promotions on tap for this weekend as Friday night will be Coca-Cola Friday and 80's Night. On Saturday, the first 500 fans to the game will receive a Texas Tech Athletics seat cushion and on Sunday fans will have the opportunity to win up to $5,000 as part of the ABC Bank Super Sunday.
All three games of the weekend series will be broadcasted as part of the Red Raider Baseball Radio Network. The pregame show gets underway 25 minutes prior to first pitch and fans can tune in locally to KKAM 1340. Play-by-play man Mark Finkner and color analyst Jason Totman will have the call. Fans can also tune in via the world wide web as live streaming audio and video will be available as part of the College Sports Pass. For more information on the CSP, log on to www.texastech.com.

Thomas Solidifies Spot In Rotation
Senior right-hander Steven Thomas solidified his spot in the weekend rotation against Illinois on Friday in the first game of the Round Rock College Classic. |
Thomas is now 2-1 on the season with a 2.89 ERA in 28 innings of work. Thomas will be joined by junior left-hander Dallas Braden and junior right-hander Michael McGowan in the rotation against Clemson.

Tech Holds No. 20 Spot In RPI
Texas Tech has a No. 20 RPI according to Boyd Nation who is editor of the college baseball website Boydsworld.com. Tech has the third best RPI in the Big 12 Conference behind Texas (2) and Texas A&M (14). The Clemson Tigers are just one spot ahead of the Red Raiders in this week's rankings at No. 19
Friday Night Lights
The Red Raider Sports Television Network in conjunction with KJTV Fox 34 will begin baseball telecasts on April 2 when the Red Raiders take on Texas. A total of four Big 12 Friday night games will be shown locally on UPN (Cox Cable Channel 6) while the package also includes the Sunday game against Oklahoma on April 25.
Tech To Take On Houston In Midland
Texas Tech will make just its second ever appearance in Midland on Tuesday night as the Red Raiders will take on the Houston Cougars at First American Bank Ballpark. Midland, just one hour and 45 minutes south of Lubbock, will host the two teams on an annual basis beginning this season. The game against Houston will mark the first regular-season game ever played by the Red Raiders in the city of Midland. The last time Texas Tech played in Midland was in 1996 when the Red Raiders lost an exhibition game to the Midland Angels 7-6.
The game will be a homecoming of sorts for three current Red Raiders who all hail from Midland. Senior third baseman Josh Haney graduated from Midland Lee and played two years at Midland College before transferring to Texas Tech last season. Junior Madison Edwards and freshman Casey Zachry are both Midland High products who helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2001 Class 5A State Championship.
Tickets for the game are currently on sale through the Midland Rockhounds Ticket Office at (432) 520-2255.
