Texas Tech Men's Tennis Complete First Day Of Competition

Lubbock, Texas - Texas Tech men's tennis finished the first day of the H.E.B. National Tournament in Corpus Christi, Texas, Friday night where they defeated Arkansas Little Rock in a thriller, 4-2, and will face the winner between Ball State and Cornell on Saturday at 12 p.m.
In singles action, Tech's Jakob Paulsen was upset at the No. 1 slot by Bastian Faisst, 6-1, 7-6, while Bojan Szumanski defeated Alexei Poutchinets of Arkansas Little Rock, 5-7, 7-6, 3-1, at the No. 2 position. Tech Coach Tim Siegel could not recall a more exciting match.
"In all my years in coaching, this was the most exciting and unbelievable victory that I have ever been a part of," Siegel said. "We had three players down match point and they all came back and won. It was the most incredible come from behind victory that I can recall."
The Red Raiders (6-2) will take the courts again tomorrow against either Ball State or Cornell at noon at the H.E.B. National Tournament.
