Lady Raiders Bring Home Third Consecutive Top Five Finish

LUBBOCK, Texas - Led by junior Megan Hull the No.46-ranked women's golf team finished the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic in Norman, Okla., in fifth place. The Lady Raiders averaged a 309.67 throughout the whole tournament, shooting a 310-309-310-929. This marks a second-straight top five finish for the Lady Raiders at the Maxwell Classic since finishing second last year.

Hull entered the final day of play in a tie for seventh, and was able to hold on to that position after shooting a third-round score of 77. This marks Hull's best finish of the season, and her third best finish of her career. Hull (76-74-77) finished the tournament shooting 11-over-par, 227. Sheila Mendez, junior, carded a 15th-place tie, moving up eight spots from ending the second round in a tie for 23rd. Shooting a 15-over-par, Mendez (75-80-76) was Tech's second best finisher with a 231, while also achieving her fifth top 20 finish of her career.

Tech's lone senior, Jackie Ey (78-79-76), holds the third best team score for the tournament shooting a 17-over-par, 233. Ey finished the tournament tied for 25th. Rounding out the last of Tech competitors were junior Kim Kolb and sophomore Hazel Tan who finished in a tie for 40th- and 47th-place finish, respectively. Kolb (82-76-82) shot a 240 for the tournament, while Tan (81-80-81) pulled in a three-round score of 242.

Tournament honors belonged to the No.16-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (900), who with the win have become a four-time defending champions of their home golf course and the Maxwell Classic. SMU (920), No.39 Baylor (924), No.44 Kansas State (928) and No. 46 Tech (929) round out the top five

The Lady Raiders will return to the greens April 23-25 as the likes of the Big 12 in the Big 12 Championships in College Station, Texas.
