LUBBOCK, Texas - Oklahoma State tied a season high with 12 hits in a 7-3 win over Texas Tech softball in game one of a doubleheader at Rocky Johnson Field on Wednesday afternoon.
The Cowgirls (23-21; 2-5 Big 12) got on the board first, scoring a run in the game's opening frame. A one-out single by Courtney Totte would yield a run three batters later on a single by Jade Lindly.
A Kelly Rhyne double in the bottom of the first plateed a run for the Lady Raiders (19-15; 1-6 Big 12) to tie the game up at 1-1. Ashley Parker led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. After a one-out walk issued to Elyssa Sigala, Rhyne drove a pitch to right center to drive in her 23 run of the season with a double.
Oklahoma State recaptured the lead in the top of the third. Totte doubled off Tech starter Erin Crawford (9-9), who allowed a season high eight hit in her shortest start of the season, to begin the inning and scored two batters later. The Cowgirls also plated a run on a double steal later in the inning to take a 3-1 lead.
In the top of the fourth, Oklahoma State pounded out four runs on four hits to take a 7-1 lead. The frame was highlighted by a two-run home run by left field Megan Carey, her fourth of the season.
Heather Parker hit an RBI double in the fifth inning for Tech's second run of the game.
Lady Raider softball is back in action tomorrow when they host Texas in a doubleheader at Rocky Johnson Field with game one starting at 5 p.m.
