AUSTIN, Texas - The men's sprint medley relay team did not disappoint turning in their third straight Texas Relays Championship title with a time of 3:14.09 to cap off day three at the 77th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. This time ties the second-best time in school history, a time last ran at the 2003 Texas Relays.
Facing rain off and on throughout the day, the team fared well with nine regional qualifying marks, two new school records and a first-place finish.
The sprint medley relay team of juniors Tyree Gailes, Matt Stewart, Albert Booker and Jonathan Johnson are the first team since Kansas State, from 1968-1970, to turn in a three-peat in the sprint medley relay at the Texas Relays. Gailes ran the first 200m leg in a time of 20.8 before Stewart took over for the other 200m leg. Stewart ran a 20.5 before handing off to Booker for the 400m leg. Grantham finished tied for 10th with a jump of 11'-9.75 (3.60m).
