Red Raiders travel to four meets in four cities

Texas Tech will start competing Thursday night at the Bryan Clay Invite
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team will be split up across the country this weekend with just two regular-season meets left in the books before the Big 12 Championships.
The majority of sprinters, pole vaulters and middle-distance groups will be in Gainesville, Fla., for the Tom Jones Memorial. Meanwhile, the rest of the distance and jumps crew will travel west to California for the Bryan Clay Invite in Azusa and the Mt. SAC relays in Walnut. Lastly, the throws group will stay in the Lone Star State and make the drive down to Tarleton State for the Joe Gillespie Invite.

Rankings
In the week three rankings released by the USTFCCCA Tuesday afternoon, the women came in at No. 9, while the men were dubbed No. 10.

Fanny Arendt will debut in the open 800m at the Tom Jones meet where she has run twice and both times dropped her season bests in the event. Her only outdoor competition this year was running the 800m anchor on the sprint medley relay going 2:04 at the Texas Relays. Tonie-Ann Forbes will make her outdoor debut in the 100m hurdles.
Indoor bronze medalist last month, Tamiah Washington will go in the triple jump over at Mt. SAC. In Azusa, Titus Kimaru, who is ranked ninth in the steeplechase (8:37.21) will give it a go in the event once again, while also running in the 1500m. Lily Mather will also represent Tech in the steeplechase. Also, back in Florida, look for Shaemar Uter and Brian Tinega to debut in the open 400m.
Freshman Stephen Mutai will make his 800m outdoor debut at Bryan Clay. His PB best in the event outdoors is 1:46.95. He anchored the Red Raiders SMR team at the Texas Relays a few weeks ago.Â

Tech will have two regular season meets left following this weekend. The Red Raiders will be in Waco next Friday and Saturday for the annual Michael Johnson Invite before coming home on Apr. 30-May 1 for the Corky/Crofoot Shootout.
