Texas Tech claimed three more titles Saturday afternoon
AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team concluded the 98th annual Texas Relays Saturday afternoon at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The first victory of the final day came from the women's high jump as Claire Lowrey cleared a lifetime best 1.88m (6-2). As of this weekend, that mark gives her the top spot in the country. Over in the women's 4x100, the ladies capped off the weekend with a second-place finish, combining for a time of 43.58.
BJ Jennings won the men's high jump clearing 2.18m (7-1 ¾) as he opens his outdoor season victorious. Symoria Adkins (13.00) finished second in the 100m hurdles as Kashlee Dickinson finished third in the pole vault with a SB 4.20m (13-9 ¼).
The men's and women's 4x400 team capped off the running events for Tech as they secured their second-straight Texas Relays title. The team of George Garcia, Shaemar Uter, Elijah Ferguson and Desean Boyce gave Tech's first time of the season at 3:03.46, good for No. 4 in the country.
The women, despite placing second, dropped an incredible time of 3:29.91 – Tech's first sub-3:30 time since the 2005 Midwest Regional. The team was comprised of Lovina Ewusi, Mekenze Kelley, Vanessa Balde and Collinique Farrington.
Notables
·        The men's 4x100 team was DQ'd for a lane violation
·        Sean Gribble placed 4th in the pole vault clearing 5.40m (17-8 ½)
