Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma State (Game Three)
Sunday, May 16, 2004
Postgame Notes
- Texas Tech's nine-run rally in the top of the ninth will go down as one of the most spectacular comebacks in Red Raider Baseball history. Texas Tech had just two hits going into the inning and went on to hit four home runs. Cameron Blair hit two home runs in the frame (a two-run and a solo)..Josh Haney hit a two-run home run and Cody Fuller hit his first career grand slam.
- Tech maintains its hold on fourth place in the Big 12 standings with the win and is a half game ahead of Baylor who swept Nebraska over the weekend in Waco.
- Corey Gerstner finished the weekend with both a win and a save and had a perfect ERA of 0.00....he allowed just five hits and struckout three.
- Texas Tech's four home runs was the most in a single inning since Texas Tech hit four homers in the first inning against Missouri on April 5, 1997 in Columbia.
- Cameron Blair's two home runs in the ninth gave him 11 home runs on the year while Josh Haney's homer gave him 10. Texas Tech now has four players with at least 10 home runs on the year in Josh Brady (16), Michael Mask (13), Cameron Blair (11) and Josh Haney (10). The Red Raiders have a total of 72 home runs on the year.
- Cody Fuller finished the series with a .500 batting average as he was 5-for-10 with five RBI and a grand slam home run.
- The win gives Texas Tech a 12-1 record on Sundays. Tech suffered its first Sunday loss of the year last week against Missouri.
