LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech men's golf player sophomore William Haddrell (first team) and tennis player junior Michael Innerebner (second team) were named to the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-District VI first and second teams. Unlike the other collegiate sports, the nominations and selections for the All-District VI team are a combination of tennis and golf athletes. For the sports of men's and women's tennis and golf, CoSIDA takes nominations from each institution to name its three best men's and women's athletes from the two sports combined.
In order to be nominated for Academic All-District and All-America honors, a player must be a starter or important reserve, must have a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and must have completed at least one full academic year at his institution.
Haddrell, a native of London, England, currently holds a 4.0 grade point average. Haddrell led the Red Raiders to a tie for fifth-place finish at the Big 12 Championships, a tying the best finish in school history, along with helping the Red Raiders qualify for the NCAA Regional for the third-straight year. Haddrell ended the season as one of Tech's top five golfers with an individual season stroke-average of 74.67.
Innerebner, Bolzano, Italy, currently holds a 3.26 grade point average. Innerebner saw time in three different positions this year for the Red Raiders, playing in the No. 3, No.4 and No.5 positions. In the No.3 position Innerebner ended the season boasting a 1-0 record, while posting a 9-5 and 1-5 record in the No.4 and No.5 positions respectively. Innerebner helped lead the Red Raiders to the semi-finals of the Big 12 tournament after upending then ranked No.32 Texas in the quarters to make it the first time that Tech has beaten the Longhorns under head coach Tim Siegel.
Both student-athletes will now automatically advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
