
Women's Cross Country Ranked No. 24 in the Nation

LUBBOCK, Texas - The 2004 Texas Tech women's cross country squad is currently ranked No. 24 this week by the FinishLynx NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country National Poll. The squad is coming off a first-place finish at the Lobo Invite on Sept. 11, in Albuquerque, N.M.
Red Raider women's cross country was ranked throughout the 2003 season, topping off at No. 31. The squad finished in fourth place at the Big 12 Championships and placed fifth at the Mountain Regional Championships, just missing an at-large bid to the National Championships. The fourth-place finish at the Big 12 meet was the squad's best finish in school history.
In the No. 24 spot, Tech is currently ranked ahead of Big 12 rivals No. 29 Oklahoma and Baylor, who was not ranked but received 11 votes.
The Tech harriers return to the course Sat., Sept. 25, in Minneapolis, Minn., at the Roy Griak Invitational, held on the campus of the University of Minnesota. For complete results of the Roy Griak Invite and Texas Tech cross country, visit www.texastech.com.
