Red Raiders Host Texas A&M on Saturday

LUBBOCK, Texas- The Texas Tech Red Raiders have their ninth home game and their third conference game of the season as they host the Aggies of Texas A&M University on Saturday evening at the United Spirit Arena. The tip-off will be at 6:05 p.m.

The game will be televised on the Texas Tech Television Network. Brian Jensen will call the play-by-play. Andy Hipsher will provide the color analysis. The game will air in the Metroplex on KFWD-TV (Channel 52) and the Lubbock area on the UPN channel.
John Harris will call the courtside action for Texas Tech and former Red Raider Chris Cassidy will provide the analysis on KKAM (1340 AM), the flagship station for the Red Raiders.
The Red Raiders earned their first conference road victory with a 79-76 win over Kansas State on Wednesday evening. With the scored knotted at 76 and with 2 seconds remaining in the game, Curtis Marshall sank a three-pointer to ice the 79-76 win for the Raiders. The score was tied nine times and the lead changed nine times until Marshall sank his three-pointer.
Ronald Ross led all scorers with 18 points. Curtis Marshall and Martin Zeno followed with 16 points each. Jarrius Jackson scored 15 points and had three steals. Devonne Giles added 12 points and 2 steals. Ross and Jackson combined for 13 assists and 5 steals. Texas Tech shot 50 percent from the field on 31-of-62 shots, including 4-of-12 attempts from beyond the three-point line. The Raiders sank 13-of-15 free throw attempts (86.7%). Kansas State shot 58.3 percent (28-of-48) and they were 13-of-19 from beyond the arc (68.4%). KSU made all seven free throw attempts.
The Raiders have five players who are averaging in double-figures. Ronald Ross leads the squad with 14.2 points per game. Jarrius Jackson follows with 13.8 points per game. Devonne Giles averages 12.5 points per game. Martin Zeno is next with 12.4 points per game. Curtis Marshall rounds out the group with 11.7 points per game.
With 841 career victories over 39 seasons, Coach Bob Knight will be on the sidelines for his 1,168 game with the match-up against Texas A&M. He is only the fourth coach to amass 800 wins in his career. Jim Phelan retired with 830 wins, the late Adolph Rupp won 876, and Dean Smith leads everyone with 879 career wins.
The Aggies are 12-1 for the season. They completed their non-conference season with eleven wins and no losses. They opened the conference season with a loss to Kansas (65-60) before downing Texas 74-63 on January 12. Antoine Wright leads his team in scoring with 17.0 points per game. Acie Law follows with 14.3 points per game and Joseph Jones adds 12.5 points per game. The Aggies average 80.2 points per game and have held their opponents to 57.8 points per game.
Last season the Red Raiders and the Aggies meet twice. The Raiders won the initial contest in College Station on January 24 by two points (80-78). The Raiders won at home on February 21 by 16 points (76-60).
Approximately 1,900 tickets remain for tomorrow's game.
