The Game
No. 10/11 Texas Tech (14-2/5-0) hosts No. 20/18 Kansas State (13-3/4-1) on Sat., Jan. 22, at 3 p.m. at the United Spirit Arena. It is the 13th meeting between the two programs. The Lady Raiders enter the game on an eight-game winning streak, while the Wildcats have won their last four games.
On the Air
The game is being televised on FSN as Bill Land (play-by-play) and Brenda VanLengen (color analyst) call the game. The game can be heard on the All Sports Radio Network with play-by-play by Ryan Hyatt and Stephanie Gerber as the color analyst.
The Lady Raiders
Texas Tech is 14-2 on the year and 5-0 in the Big 12 after winning at Nebraska, 68-58, last Wednesday. On the year, four Lady Raiders are scoring in double figures led by sophomore Alesha Robertson at 15.7 and junior Chesley Dabbs at 14.8. Senior Cisti Greenwalt is averaging 13.3 points and junior LaToya Davis is averaging 11.6. Davis is shooting a team and Big 12-high 62.7 percent from the field, while Robertson is shooting 40.9 percent from the three-point line and 86.4 percent from the charity stripe. Greenwalt is the top rebounder, grabbing 9.4 boards per outing. Junior Erin Grant has team highs of 97 assists and 26 steals. Greenwalt is the top shot blocker with 62 blocks. Texas Tech is shooting 46.7 percent from the field, 38.3 percent from three-point range and 69.6 percent from the free throw line.
Scouting the Opponent
Kansas State owns a 13-3 overall record and 4-1 in the Big 12 after beating Texas A&M, 74-50, last Wednesday. In that game, sophomore Claire Coggins and freshman Shana Wheeler each scored 11 points, while seniors Kendra Wecker and Megan Mahoney each added 10 points and eight rebounds. Wecker also tallied five assists and two steals. Mahoney had two blocks.
On the year, Wecker leads the Wildcats and the Big 12 in scoring with a 20.5 average followed by senior Laurie Koehn at 12.3, Mahoney at 10.4 and Coggins at 10.0. Wecker is the top rebounder, averaging 9.2 boards per contest. Mahoney leads the team in assists with 56 and Wecker has a team-high 32 steals. Wheeler is the top shot blocker with 20 blocks. K-State is shooting 45.3 percent from the field, 36.9 percent from the three-point arc and 72.5 percent from the free throw line.
Deb Patterson is in her ninth year at the helm of the Wildcats establishing a career record of 164-98.
Series Record
It is the 13th meeting between Texas Tech and Kansas State with the Lady Raiders holding an 8-4 advantage. Last year, K-State beat Tech, 85-73, in the Big 12 season finale March 3, in Manhattan. The Lady Raiders won the two contests in 2003: a 73-64 triumph March 6 in Lubbock and 71-65 in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament in Dallas March 13. Tech has won seven of the last nine games and owns a 4-1 record against KSU in Lubbock.

Last Time vs. Kansas State
March 3, 2004 - (AP) - Eighth-ranked Kansas State claimed an 85-73 victory over No. 9 Texas Tech for a share of the Big 12 championship.
Alesha Robertson led Texas Tech with 16 points.
Kansas State led 33-29 at halftime then outscored the Lady Raiders 18-5 in the first five minutes of the second half. The Wildcats were 6-for-6 from the field - 3-for-3 from 3-point range - and 3-for-3 from the line over that span.
Laurie Koehn hit two 3-pointers - converting one into a 4-point play when she was fouled by Casey Jackson. Koehn closed it out with another 3-pointer, giving Kansas State a 51-34 lead with 15 minutes left.
The Wildcats were hot from the field early in the first half as well, hitting seven of their first 10 shots and taking a 17-7 lead behind three 3s from Amy Dutmer. They were 13-for-25 from 3-point range for the game, more than offsetting Texas Tech's free-throw advantage.
Texas Tech was 21-for-27 from the line, compared to 12-for-14 for Kansas State, but shot just 4-for-11 from long range.
Dutmer scored all 15 of her points on 3s, Koehn hit three 3-pointers and finished with 14 points. Megan Mahoney added three 3s and nine points to go with her 10 rebounds. That opened the inside for Ohlde and Wecker, who had nine of her points in the final 10 minutes.
Wecker's 3-point play with 8:18 left gave Kansas State its first 20-point lead, 72-52. Her basket with 7:21 to go made it 76-54, the Wildcats' biggest lead.
Erin Grant added 12 points, Jackson had 11 and Chesley Dabbs and Jametra Clark finished with 10 apiece for Texas Tech.
Last Time Out
(AP) - Chesley Dabbs scored 15 of her 21 points in the first half and No. 10 Texas Tech held off Nebraska 68-58 on Wednesday night.
The Lady Raiders (14-2, 5-0 Big 12) made their final eight free throws to win their eighth straight game, handing Nebraska its first home loss in 10 games.
Texas Tech entered the game outscoring teams by an average of 28 points and built a double-digit lead early in the second half. But Nebraska (11-6, 3-2), which knocked off then-No. 2 Baylor in triple overtime a week ago, drew within two points with 3:20 left.
Kiera Hardy, who scored 15 points to pace Nebraska, hit a jump shot to trim Tech's lead to 57-55. The Lady Raiders pulled away on Alesha Robertson's jumper and free throws by Erin Grant and LaToya Davis.
Grant had 16 points, Davis added 13 points and 11 rebounds and Robertson finished with 11 points for Tech.
Robertson's 3-pointer with 7:58 left in the first half broke a 17-17 tie and started a 17-8 run that gave the Lady Raiders a 34-25 halftime lead.
Nebraska's Hardy, averaging a Big 12-leading 27.8 points through four conference games, made a 3-pointer to open the game and then missed 7-of-8 shots before regaining her touch in the second half.
Dabbs led Tech in the first half, making 7-of-12 shots.
LaToya Howell, held scoreless in the first half, scored eight points to provide some offensive spark during the Huskers' comeback.
Jina Johansen's layup off a feed from Jessica Gerhart pulled the Huskers to 43-41 with 10:43 left, and Elena Diaz's short jumper got them within a point with seven minutes to play.
A Look Ahead
Texas Tech plays Missouri Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. in Lubbock with the game being televised on the Texas Tech Television Network. The Lady Raiders will hit the road for a game at Texas A&M Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. on FSN. Tech hosts Baylor Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. and Iowa State Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. The Iowa State game will be televised on the Texas Tech Television Network.

Double Duty for Davis Junior LaToya Davis registered her third double-double of the season at Nebraska with 13 points and 11 rebounds. It was the eighth double-double of her career.
Career High 3s for Grant
Junior Erin Grant hit a career-high three three-point baskets in the win at Nebraska. Grant was 3-for-3 from behind the arc. She finished the night with 16 points.
Field Goal Percentage
Texas Tech put together three-straight games of shooting over 50 percent from the field. The Lady Raiders shot a season-high 57.1 percent (32-of-56) at Oklahoma State, 50.8 percent (30-of-59) against Texas and 55 percent (33-of-60) at Colorado. Tech has shot 50 percent or better on seven occasions this season.
Career High for Dabbs
Junior Chesley Dabbs scored a career-high 22 points in Texas Tech's win at Colorado. Her previous career-high was 21 against Ole Miss earlier this season. Dabbs has scored in double figures in 11-straight games and in 12 of 16 games this year. She put in 21 points at Nebraska on Wednesday.
Griffin Gets Career Numbers vs. Buffs
Freshman Darrice Griffin tied her career-high 10 rebounds at Colorado. It was the second time in her career to have 10 rebounds in a game, the other coming against Miami in December. She also recorded a career-high three blocks against the Buffs.
100th Big 12 Win
Texas Tech got its 100th Big 12 regular-season win Jan. 12 in a 79-62 triumph over Texas. Tech is the first school in the Big 12 to get 100 regular-season wins in league play. The Lady Raiders are 102-31 in the Big 12.
A Top Crowd
Texas Tech had another top crowd with 14,253 fans in attendance in Tech's game against Texas Jan. 12. It marked the 12th largest crowd to witness a Lady Raider game in the United Spirit Arena. Tech had 14,119 fans in attendance for their game against Sacramento State Dec. 28, now the 13th largest crowd. Tech has sold out (15,050) the USA six times for a Lady Raider game since opening in November 1999.
5-0 Start
Texas Tech is off to a 5-0 start in Big 12 play for the fourth time in the history of the Big 12 Conference. Tech started off 5-0 or better in 1998, 1999 and 2001.
Tech Gets First Top 25 Win
Texas Tech's 79-62 win over No. 12/11 Texas Jan. 12 was the first win for the Lady Raiders against a ranked team this season. Tech's only other game versus a ranked opponent was against then No. 7/5 Stanford, in which Tech lost 61-58, Nov. 28 in Santa Clara, Calif.
Myrick Grabs Career High Rebounds
Freshman Erin Myrick came off the bench against Texas Jan. 12 to grab a career high of seven rebounds. Myrick played 14 quality minutes in the Lady Raiders' win. Her previous high was six rebounds on three occasions this season.
Big 12 Openers
Texas Tech is now 8-1 in Big 12 openers after beating Oklahoma, 70-64, Jan. 5. Tech's only loss came at Iowa State, 62-37, Jan. 2, 2000. The Lady Raiders are now 4-0 in Big 12 openers at home.
Baughman Sinks Career High 3s
Sophomore Brooke Baughman sank a career-high three three-pointers at Oklahoma State Jan. 8. Baughman was 3-for-3 behind the arc in that game.
Kickin' It Up A Notch
Junior LaToya Davis continues to be a spark for the Lady Raiders. The Houston, Texas, native led the team with 22 points against Oklahoma. After the Oklahoma State game, Davis had scored in double figures in six-straight games before ending her streak against Texas Jan. 12. She had scored in double figures in 11 of the last 13 games. She is also leading the Big 12 in field goal percentage at 62.7 percent.
Climbing Up the Charts
Junior Erin Grant is moving closer to taking over second place on Texas Tech's career assists list. Grant has compiled 539 assists in her two and half years at Tech. Standing in second is Krista Kirkland with 553 and in first is Melinda Schmucker-Pharies with 603. Grant's 539 assists currently ranks sixth all-time in the Big 12.
Greenwalt Gets Seventh Double-Double of Season
Senior Cisti Greenwalt had her seventh double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds against Oklahoma Jan. 5. It was her 17th double-double as a Lady Raider. Her seven of the season is tied for second in the Big 12.
Non-Conference Play
Texas Tech concluded non-conference play with a 9-2 record and was perfect at home with an 8-0 record. The Lady Raiders averaged 79.3 points a game during non-conference action compared to their opponents 50.5 points a game. Tech's two losses were by an average of just two points.
Double Digit Assists
For the second time this season, junior Erin Grant collected double digit assists in a game as she tallied 12 against Idaho State. Her first game of 10 or more assists this year came against Miami Dec. 6 when she also had 12 assists. She has recorded 10-plus assists 13 times in her career.
Season High Scoring for Greenwalt
Senior Cisti Greenwalt scored a season-high 21 points in leading Texas Tech to victory over Penn State Dec. 21. Greenwalt's previous season high was 20 points versus Miami Dec. 6. Her career high is 26 points, which occurred against Wyoming Dec. 14, 2002.
Four Starters in Double Figures
Four of Texas Tech's starters scored in double figures against Penn State. Senior Cisti Greenwalt scored 21 points followed by junior Chesley Dabbs with 13 and junior LaToya Davis and sophomore Alesha Robertson with 12 points apiece. The five starters, including junior Erin Grant's nine points, combined to score 67 of Tech's 79 points.
More Double-Doubles
Senior Cisti Greenwalt recorded her fifth and sixth double-doubles of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds against Arkansas State and 14 points and 12 rebounds against Virginia Tech in the Las Vegas Duel in the Desert. She now has 16 double-doubles in her career and the six registered this season rank first in the Big 12. Greenwalt also had double-doubles against Rice (19 pt., 15 rb.), Arkansas-Little Rock (14 pt., 10 rb.), Miami (20 pt., 10 rb.) and Oral Roberts (18 pt., 14 rb.). Against Oral Roberts, she also swatted a season-high seven blocks.
Tournament Honors
Senior Cisti Greenwalt was named the MVP of the Las Vegas Duel in the Desert tournament, while teammates junior Chesley Dabbs and sophomore Alesha Robertson were named to the all-tournament team.
Block Buster
Senior Cisti Greenwalt tied her season-high seven blocks against Virginia Tech. It also marked a Cox Pavilion (Las Vegas, Nev.) record.
Davis Scores Season High
Junior LaToya Davis poured in a season-high 23 points against Virginia Tech, just one point shy of her career-high 24 points.
Big 12 Player of the Week
Sophomore Alesha Robertson was named the Big 12 Player of the Week Dec. 13, for her performances Dec. 6-12. During that time she set the school record for most three-point baskets made in a game when she hit nine en route to scoring a career-high 37 points against Miami Dec. 6. For the week, she averaged 22.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, while shooting 44.2 percent from the field, 57.7 percent from the three-point arc and 93.8 percent from the free throw line.
Tech Holds Ole Miss to Record-Low Shooting Percentage
Texas Tech held Ole Miss to just 16.2 percent from the field which set a new school record for lowest field goal percentage by an opponent. The previous low was 16.9 percent by SMU last year.
School Record 3s
Sophomore Alesha Robertson set the school record for most three-point shots made in a game with nine against Miami en route to scoring a career-high 37 points. The previous record was eight set last season by Natalie Ritchie against Oklahoma State. Robertson was 9-for-12 from three-point range.
Big 12 Career Block Leader
Senior Cisti Greenwalt is now the Big 12 Conference's all-time leader in blocked shots with 257. She passed Britt Hartshorn of Colorado (1999-02), who had 208, as the league's career leader in blocks. Greenwalt set the Texas Tech school record last season.
100-Point Game
Texas Tech scored 109 points in its victory over Miami Dec. 6. Last season, Tech scored at least 100 points on two occasions: 100 vs. Pacific Dec. 8, 2003 and 106 vs. Oklahoma State Jan. 10, 2004. The 2003-04 season was the first time Tech had scored 100-plus points more than once in the same season since 1994-95. The 109 points versus Miami marks the 11th season Tech has accomplished the feat of scoring 100 or more points in a game. During 1992-93, Tech scored 100 or more points on six occasions, which is the most of any Lady Raider season.
First Time for Everything
For the first time in school history, Texas Tech welcomes its first international player and first California natives to its roster. Sophomore Patrice Edwards hails from Trinidad-Tobago, West Indies, while freshman Erin Myrick is from Duarte, Calif., and freshman Judith Smith comes from Long Beach, Calif.
Naismith Candidates
Junior Erin Grant and sophomore Alesha Robertson were selected preseason candidates for the Naismith Trophy. Grant, a native of Arlington, Texas, was a second team All-Big 12 selection in 2004 after averaging 8.3 points and 6.5 assists per game. She currently ranks third on Tech's career list for assists with 535 and is on pace to break the school record (603) this season. Plainview, Texas, native Robertson is Tech's top returning scorer from last year as she averaged 12.4 points per contest. Robertson was honorable mention All-Big 12 last season.
Preseason Honors
Sophomore transfer Patrice Edwards was named the preseason Co-Big 12 Newcomer of the Year by the league coaches, while junior Erin Grant and sophomore Alesha Robertson were named preseason honorable mention All-Big 12. Robertson was named preseason second team All-America by Women's Basketball News Service, Grant was named to the third team. Grant was also selected preseason honorable mention by Street & Smith's.
Grant Among the Best at Her Position
Junior Erin Grant was selected as one of the top five point guards in the country by ESPN.com. Joining Grant on the list were Jamie Carey (Texas), Dionnah Jackson (Oklahoma), Temeka Johnson (LSU) and Cappie Pondexter (Rutgers).
Winning Percentage By Class
The senior class, which consists of just one player - Cisti Greenwalt is 88-28 (.759) and 36-17 (.679) in the Big 12. The juniors post a 68-16 (.810) mark and 28-9 (.757) in the conference. The sophomore class is 39-10 (.796) and 15-6 (.714) in the league, while the freshmen are 14-2 (.875) and 5-0 (1.000) in the Big 12.

Texas Tech will have 16 regular-season games televised this season. Those airing on FSN include: vs. Stanford (L, 61-58), at Oklahoma State (W, 76-38), Kansas State Jan. 26, at Texas A&M Jan. 30 and at Baylor March 3. Tech played at Colorado (W, 87-410 FSN Rocky Mountain. The Lady Raiders will face Texas in Austin on Feb. 13 on ESPN2. The Texas Tech Television Network will broadcast Arkansas-Little Rock (W, 69-29), Oral Roberts (W, 79-46), Sacramento State (W, 83-37), Oklahoma (W, 70-64), Texas (W, 79-62), Missouri Jan. 26, Iowa State Feb. 8, Texas A&M Feb. 19 and Oklahoma State Feb. 26.
Lady Raiders in the Polls
Since January 20, 1992, the Lady Raiders have been ranked in the Top 25 in the Associated Press and/or the USA Today poll a total of 242 weeks. That includes the Jan. 17 polls in which Tech is ranked 10th in the Associated Press top 25 poll and 11th in the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Coaches poll.
