Women's Volleyball Begins Spring Practice

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's volleyball team will open the spring season with its first practice today. Head Coach Nancy Todd is excited about this upcoming spring season which gives the coaching staff and the team a brief look at what they can expect next fall.
"The spring doesn't count towards anything as far as records and results," said Todd, "but it gives the team and the staff a chance to see what we can do against some good teams."
The Red Raiders will compete in three tournaments this spring giving the new and old Raiders a chance to preview what can be expected from the team.
Tech opens up the spring with a trip Canyon, Texas, to participate in the West Texas A&M tournament April 2. Tech then wraps up the spring with trips to Waco, Texas, for the Baylor Invitational April 9, followed by the New Mexico State tournament in Las Cruces, N.M. April 16.
The last scheduled event for the Red Raiders is the team's annual fund raiser the Spring Fling, an outdoor grass tournament to ages from 14 and up. Divisions include of men's double, women's doubles, co-ed doubles and co-ed fours. The annual event is set for Sat., April 30.
