Women's Golf Falls to 15th

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No.45 Texas Tech women's golf team fell to 15th after the second round at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas. Senior Kim Kolb continues to the lead the Red and Black at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational with a two-round effort of 159.
Tech golfers still remain in the hunt for their fifth top-five finish of the year amongst a highly ranked field including No.1 Duke, No.7 Arizona State, No.9 Missouri, No.8 Oklahoma State, No.17 Arkansas, No.21 Tulsa, No.24 Texas, No.27 SMU, No.33 Texas A&M, No.35 Baylor, No.39 Oklahoma, No.63 New Mexico State, No.65 Kansas, and No.72 Kansas State.
Tech junior Hazel Tan (82-78-160) turned in a 78 second-day performance. Tan's second-day outing moves the Raider into a tie for 43rd trailing Tech's top finisher, Kolb (76-83), who sits in a tie for 38th at 159 after two.
Rounding out the Lady Raiders are senior Megan Hull (83-80-163) tied for 56th, freshman Valerie Tan (84-85-169) tied for 85th and senior Sheila Mendez (89-86-175) in 95th.Competing as an individual is junior Ashley Slavich who turned in a first-round 80 followed by today's 87 to place the junior tied for 77th.
Leading the team leaderboard is Arkansas (309-302) in first, followed by Duke (307-307) in second. Rounding out the top five are Oklahoma State (310-306-third), Texas (313-308) and Arizona State (315-308) in fifth.
The three-day tournament wraps up tomorrow with the final 18 holes to be played at the University of Texas Golf Club.
