LUBBOCK, Texas - Bojan Szumanski has been named the Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office. The honor marks the first Big 12 weekly awards of the 2005 spring season.

Bojan Szumanski is a sophomore from Opole, Poland and went to high school at Z.L.O. im.Stefana Wyszynskiego.

Szumanski went undefeated on the weekend as Texas Tech won four matches at the HEB Collegiate Team Championships. The sophomore posted two wins at No. 2 singles. In the finals against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, he recorded a 6-7, 7-5, (12-10) win. He won 6-0, 7-6 in his second match of the event versus South Alabama after opening the Championships with an 8-2 tally at No. 2 doubles. Szumanski is 6-0 for the spring season at No. 1 and No. 2 singles and has recorded a 4-2 doubles mark.
