LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's volleyball team will get a chance to return to the courts after its first spring tournament at West Texas A&M April 2. Tech now travels to Baylor where it will take part in the Baylor Tournament for its second competition of the spring.
With no statistics being taken at any of the tournaments, the Red Raiders are using these tournaments as warm up for the fall season set to begin Sept.9, at the SMU Tournament.
Notable newcomers Erica Sibley and Philister Sang will continue grooming their play for the fall season where both might see valuable playing time in an open starting lineup for the Red Raiders.
Sang, a transfer from Frank Phillips Junior College, will help fill the void left by outside hitter Kelly Johnson, who finished her career at Tech as the all-time kills leader in Tech history.
Sibley joins the squad in hopes of adding height and depth to Tech's middle blocker position. Sibley joined Tech after graduating early from a stellar high school career at Little Cyprus Mauriceville High School, where she was named First Team All-State her senior year.
Tech will travel to Waco, Texas, Sat., April 9, for the one-day event.
